Countertops in Rocky Hill.

Quartzite gives a Rocky Hill kitchen the look of marble with far more resistance to scratching and etching. It handles heat, stands up to a busy family, and suits any style of home.

We import quartzite and granite ourselves and keep full slabs in the racks at 97 Airport Road, about 6 miles up I-91. Templating, cutting, and installation are all ours. No part of the job goes to another company.

Quartzite or granite

Quartzite and granite both stand up to a busy kitchen.

Here is how the two compare.

The look
Quartzite often resembles marble, with soft veining and movement. Granite runs from speckled to boldly patterned in hundreds of colors.
Scratches
Both are highly scratch resistant. Quartzite gives you the marble look without marble’s etching.
Heat
Both handle hot pans better than quartz, which contains resin and is best kept away from direct high heat.
Sealing
We seal both before installation. After that, granite should be resealed every one to two years. Quartzite needs periodic resealing too.

Choosing the slab

Pick the exact slab for your kitchen.

Two quartzite slabs with the same name can look very different, so the piece matters as much as the stone. Walk the quartzite racks and mark the piece you want for your island. Weekdays 8:30 to 4:30, Saturday 9 to 1. Get directions →

How do I know which slab to choose?

Walk the racks. A full slab shows you where the veining runs and how it will read across an island, which a sample cannot. Call (860) 296-5263 to check what is in before you drive up. Plan a visit →
