Quartzite is what happens when nature makes sandstone answer to heat and pressure: a metamorphic stone with a lustrous finish, marble-like veining, and hardness beyond granite. It gives you the drama of marble without the etching — which is why it has become the favorite of our high-end kitchen clients.

Quartzite arrives in some of the most striking colors in natural stone: Taj Mahal, Calacatta varieties, Infinity Blue, Blue Bahia, Blue Maccaubas, Brown Fantasy, Audacia, and Belvedere — polished or leathered.

Taj Mahal is the one most people arrive asking for: a warm cream with soft movement that reads like marble and behaves like something considerably tougher. We import it directly and generally keep it in both 2cm and 3cm polished. It is in the racks below, and you are welcome to come stand in front of a full slab of it before you decide.

Is quartzite harder than granite?

Yes. Quartzite is a metamorphic stone with hardness beyond granite, highly scratch-resistant and naturally heat- and moisture-tolerant, with veining that reads like marble.

Is quartzite more expensive than granite?

Usually. Expect a relative premium of roughly 25 to 50 percent over a comparable granite job, driven by quarrying and fabrication. We wrote a full comparison of the two stones. Read it here →

Does quartzite etch like marble?

No. Quartzite gives you marble's look without marble's etching. Care is simple cleaning and periodic sealing, and we seal every natural stone before installation.
